CREATING KEEPSAKES TEEN TALENT SEARCH: SCRAPBOOKING

During the month of August Creating Keepsakes magazine had a scrapbooking contest just for teens (ages 13-18). I started seriously scrapbooking and submitting when I was 15. I loved the art then just as much as I do now but had difficulties being selected for publication. When I read about this contest I was so excited and jumped on the chance to make some projects. Thanks CK for the amazing opportunity!

NAME BANNER

I have made SOOOO many of these as gifts for friends and family and have gotten five requests in the past two weeks (AH!). For this contest I decided to make one for my room and included my favorite photos on it too! I punched the photos out with a circle craft punch and sewed them together to create a mini-banner of sorts and proceeded to attach it to the main banner pieces!

SILLY FACES LAYOUT

Silly Faces is a layout of Harry and I. We took these pictures two summer ago using self timer and I have always loved them. I am so happy I got the opportunity to scrap them. I've had the scalloped chipboard piece (it came with a Making Memories calendar kit) forever and finally put it too use. I painted it with Tim Holtz crackle paint and then inked it up a bit. Also, I added a large Hamply transparency piece over the photos to add dimension and interest! Oh, and I think think layout started my OBSESSION with banners (triangular and circular!)

NOTES BOX: MY FAVORITE PROJECT (probably of all time!)

Again, I punched out my photos with a craft punch and sewed them together, having a decorative piece in between, and attached it to the circumference of the box. The top I designed like I would a layout (just circular). Restoration collection pack by Crate Paper was perfect for this project and inspired me immensely. I loved layering the difference elements and having the whole thing just come together.

ANYWAYS...
Two weeks ago, CK emailed their TOP TEN finalist (out of 500) and I was one of them. Touched and honored don't even begin to express how I feel. I scrapbook because I have a crazy PASSION for it and want to give a piece of my love ( in art form) to others. Being a top ten finalist in a scrapbooking contest, that's just crazy and VERY COOL! So, tomorrow CK will post a voting poll for the next teen scrapbooker. Readers will have the change to vote for their favorite project! I am here, writing this SUPER LONG post to ENCOURAGE you to vote. I didn't put my finalist project up here so you don't know which one is mine. No obligations (: ! PLEASE check out the site tomorrow and VOTE for your FAVORITE project. Whatever your little heart desires!

I'll link up the poll tomorrow for sure!
